Albert Hammond (London, 18 may 1944) is a singer-songwriter from Gibraltar. Hammond wrote together with Mike Hazlewood several hits in the 1970s such as I'm a train, I don't want that in an air disaster, The free electric band and It never rains in southern California. He also wrote other songs for Tina Turner (among other things: I don't wanna lose you) and Whitney Houston (among other things: One moment in time). Hammond is the father of Albert Hammond Jr., guitarist of the band The Strokes.
Albert Hammond is drawn to America at the age of 16. He is, although born in London, coming from Gibraltar ("I am a Gibraltarian"). In 2009 there was in Gibraltar a series of stamps issued in his honor.
