ReviewEdit

Even though Bruce McCulloch says greatest hits albums are for housewives and little girls, this is a decent place to start, and the packaging is pretty good, with an essay by Sarah Vowell. I wish there were a few more rarities for the die-hards to not feel too awfully ripped off by (and I wish they'd given it a different title, instead of one that makes everyone think it's going to be a long-awaited collection of stuff from the real Dial-A-Song (718-387-6962)), but it's all right. It's a pretty good overview from the various different eras of They Might Be Giants up to 2002, and there're some cool choices (I'm glad "Pet Name" was included). So, basically, I'd probably recommend starting with an actual album, but this is a fine place to start too. - Rev. Syung Myung Me

I do feel that this is a worthy compliation, as it has extensive liner notes and some nice essays (not to mention complete lyrics!) There are some nice live versions of songs, an extended version of "Cyclops Rock," a different vocal recorded for "James K. Polk," and the single mix of "(She Was a) Hotel Detective." Dr. Evil isn't really available elsewhere aside from the Austin Powers soundtrack, so I feel that this compilation belongs with all of my other CDs, despite having each of their albums. - DominEl For More Information: TMBW.net Page
