Dixieland is a form of jazz popular in the 1910s and 20s. It typically featured a trumpet (or cornet), clarinet, trombone, and drum kit.

Dixieland originated in New Orleans, and jazz was still in it's infancy. After ragtime died out in the 1910s, dixieland quickly took over.
