Don't Go Breaking My Heart was shot with three cameras in a single take as Elton and Kiki pretend to record their vocals while ‘improvising’. Elton and Kiki often missed their cues and John’s attempt to lead Dee in a very haphazard dance sequence caught his companion off guard. This video is considered to be among the cheapest music videos ever produced.

Since in 1984, Kenny Loggins and Irene Cara covered the song as a single which was released in November 13, 1984. It reached and peeked the number one chart on the Billboard Hot 100. It won the Grammy Awards Song of the Year in 1985. It appears on 1985 soundtrack and film, Fletch.
