Eric Howard Carmen (Cleveland, Ohio, 11 August 1949) is an American singer-songwriter and lead singer of The raspberries. He is best known for his hits All by myselffrom Hungry eyes from 1976 and 1988.

Biography[Edit][]
Eric Carmen grew up in Lyndhurst, Ohio. He was interested in music from an early age. At the age of three he got rhythm classes at the Conservatory of Cleveland and he received violin lessons of his aunt who played in the Cleveland Orchestra . In his secondary-school time he got Piano lessons he began teaching himself guitar and play. He was influenced by British bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones who at the time were extremely popular in the United States.
On the University played Carmen in the band Cyrus Erie. In it, he played with Wally Bryson, who in 1967 as The Choir 's guitarist had had an American hit with it's cold outside. When end 60 's both fell apart as The Choir Cyrus Erie, Carmen and Bryson decided in 1970, along with two other former musicians of The Choir, to form the band The raspberries . This group released between 1972 and 1974 four albums out and had seven hits, of which Go all the way, a number 5-hit from 1972, the best known is. In 1975 The raspberries went apart and Carmen started a solo career.
Carmen directly in 1976 had a big hit with All by myself, that would be later covered by many artists (among other things by Céline Dion). It reached the second place in the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first held in place by Love machine PT. 1 of The Miracles and December 1963 (Oh, what a night) " by The Four Seasons. The successor Never gonna fall in love again reached the eleventh in the American charts. Both songs were based on work by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff: piano concerto no. 2 are respectively from 1901 and his second Symphony from 1908. Carmen thought these works in the public domain [1]fell, but this was not so, since Rachmaninoff had died in 1943 . Carmen knew to continue his success in 1988 with the song " Make me lose control, that the American top 3 took out. Despite his renewed success took Carmen no new album on and after the small Reason to try hit, he was slowly forgotten. In 2000 he took his only studio album I was born to love you on. that same year, keyboardist in Ringo Starrs he All-Starr Band. This tour also sang Carmen In some of his own songs, includingAll by myself, Hungry eyes and hit the raspberries- Go all the way. In 2004 (after a previous attempt in 1999) came The raspberries back together. Initially it was intended only to give a reunion concert, but interest motivated the four band members in such a way that there was organized a mini tour in 2005 . In 2007 , a live album by the Group and were new gigs planned.
