Robert Trujillo (Spanish pronunciation: [roˈβerto tɾuˈxiʎo]; born Roberto Agustin Miguel Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz on October 23, 1964) is an American bassist who currently plays bass in the thrash metal band Metallica, a capacity he has served in since 2003. He has also played in Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Black Label Society, and with Jerry Cantrell and Ozzy Osbourne.

Just to clarify, no, Robert did NOT play on Metallica's St. Anger. Bob Rock recorded the bass for that album despite Robert being credited as the bassist. He still played all the live shows following the album.

Techniques[]

Robert's bass playing technique is he plays with fingers. However, while touring with Metallica in 2019, he was seen using a pick while playing the song, "The God That Failed". Why? I don't know. Maybe something to do with their previous bassist, Jason Newsted?
