Richard Chamberlain (Beverly Hills (Los Angeles), 31 March 1934) is an American actor. He began actingat a very young age. One of his most famous roles is ' Ralph de Bricassart ' in the popular miniseries The Thorn Birds (Dutch: the thorn birds). For the general public, he was already known in the title role of the TV version of Dr. Kildare (1961-1966) and he grew into a teen idol.
He lives in Hawaii with his partner Martin Rabbett. It has long been an open secret that Chamberlain is homosexual , but in 2003 he came out openly in his biography thereShattered Love. In it he describes, among other things, that it was necessary for his acting career to hide his orientation.
