Stevie Ray Vaughan (Dallas (Texas), 1954 – October 3, Chicago (Illinois), 27 August 1990) was an American blues singer and guitarist.

Biography[Edit][]
Inspired by his older brother Jimmie Stevie Ray started to play guitar at a young age. He turned out to be very talented and soon played in several local bands. In 1972 stopped Vaughan studying in order to fully concentrate on music. Stevie Ray was not sure what career he wanted; said it was music his only way out. Therefore he moved to Austin,Texas and became a professional artist.
In the early 1970s played Vaughan along with Doyle Bramhall in the band The Nightcrawlers. After this, he played several years in The Cobras. This band was quite popular in Austin. In 1976 , he formed a band called "Triple Threat Revue". In 1979-1980 changed the band by name and called himself Double Trouble.
Stevie Ray was In 1982 during the Montreux Blues Festival noticed by David Bowie. This was so impressed Vaughan that he asked him to contribute to his new cd ' Let's Dance '. As a result of the same action Jackson Browne offered his recording studio where the first album by Double Trouble (Texas Flood) was recorded. This was followed by a contract for Stevie Ray and his band withEpic Records.
For the band, this was the beginning of an international career. Their album Texas Flood was published in 1983 and they were allowed to for the first time that year in the famous television show "Austin City Limits" occur. Next, the ever more prosperous with Double Trouble. The Group took about a new album each year (e.g. Couldn't Stand The Weather, Live Alive and Soul to Soul).
Over the years, hit Stevie Ray addicted to drink and drugs. In 1986 he collapsed as a result, in during a tour. Later that year he was included in a rehab clinic, where he managed to overcome both addictions.
In 1989 , the album was recorded In Step . With this lp won Stevie that same year a prestigious Grammy Award. He was again invited to act in the television program "Austin City Limits". The two performances for this program were later released on video under the name Live From Austin Texas. In 1990 , he recorded a cd together with his brother Jimmie on called Family Style.
This was one of the last highlights in his life. He died in the afternoon (12.50) from 27 August 1990 during a tragic helicopter accident [[1]]. He had that night occurred on the "Alpine Valley Festival", along with stars such as Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton. Stevie Ray Vaughan was 35 years old.
Ann Richardsdeclared In 1991 , the then Governor of Texas, 3 October to "Stevie Ray Vaughan Day". A year later in 1992 brought the guitar manufacturer Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Signature Stratocaster on the market. Before his death Vaughan had designed this guitar along with Fender. In 1994 a statue in memory of Stevie Ray revealed to the shore of the Lake of Austin.
