The Winner Takes It All originally had the title "The Story of my Life". The song was, like all ABBA songs, written by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. The singing is in this issue of Agnetha Fältskog. The lyrics of the song seem to save on the divorce between Ulvaeus and Fältskog in 1979. However, this is denied by both members.Ulvaeus says that the basis of the song "the experience of a divorce, but a fictional. In our case there was no winner or loser.
