There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis:Kirsty MacColl

Artist: Kirsty MacColl

Album: Desperate Character

Appears On (Mixes): Pray For My TV Show

Song Notes: Oddly enough, this turns out to be the song right before "Teenager In Love" on the original album, so there you go. Two great songs from one of the Queens Of Great Songs. Like I mentioned before, with Warren Zevon, listing to Kirsty MacColl also makes me a little sad, as she died way too young, too (and, like Warren Zevon, in a particularly terrible way—he had cancer, she got run over by a boat... together, they fight crime!). And, hey, like him (and Harry Nilsson, too), she had a definite sense of humor which shone through through her songs along with the sheer beauty of them. This has such a great lyrical sense about it; I love it. It's so good, but so's all her stuff, really. - Rev. Syung Myung Me
