Band Biography[]
Town and Country, the Chicago-based quartet, is made up of four multi-instrumental artists that combine the atmosphere of free jazz with the tendencies of post-rock. Ben Vida (cornet, guitar, harmonium) Liz Payne (viola, hand bells, Celeste), Jim Dorling (bass clarinet, Harmonium, glass), and Josh Abrams (String Bass, Hand Bells) create exotic sounds and trance-like rhythms that weave in and out of each other with an ease that could only be established after years of playing with each other. Influences range from John Cale, to Eastern classical music to 90s post-rock experimentators Fridge. Always ethereal, Town and Country composes music for rainy days and calm nights.
