Yvonne Marianne Elliman (Honolulu, 29 december, 1951) is an American singer-songwriter and actress.
Her singing career began in the early years 1970 in London where she acted in various clubs. This led to a record deal and a role as a backup singer Eric Clapton's. She sang along on several of his hits, among other things: I Shot the Sheriff. She sang the role of Mary Magdalene on the original album Jesus Christ Superstar and theBroadwayand film versions, and got her first hit in 1973 with "I don't know how to love him.
Her singing career took a great escape with several hit singles, including Hello stranger and the Bee Gees song Love me. Her biggest hit in the United States came in1977 with the number-one hit from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, If I can't have you, also written by the Bee Gees. Bill Oakes, her husband, got this number. There are a series of smaller hits in 1979, as the title song of the movie Moment by Moment and another disco song Love pains. She appeared in a two-part episode of the television series Hawaii Five-O. Other hits were "I can't get you out of my mind with co-star James Darren and Savannah. Then she made an end to her career as a singer in order to build her family life. In 2004 the album Simple needs, with all songs written by Elliman.
